Purpose and audience
Print Prep Lab publishes calculators and explanations to help people make a specific print-preparation decision before ordering or exporting a file. Pages are written for photographers, designers, artists, students, small businesses and print customers—not for search engines alone.
A page should leave the visitor with a usable answer, the formula behind it, the limitations of that answer and a clear next step. New pages are not added merely to target a slightly different keyword or repeat an existing table.
Who is responsible
Hossam Eldeen creates and maintains the site, including its source code, mathematical functions, editorial content and public corrections. Guide pages show a visible maintainer line and link back to the About, Methodology and Sources pages.
The project does not invent professional credentials or imply that a calculator is a certification from a printer. When a page depends on a provider-specific rule, it tells the visitor to confirm that rule with the provider.
How a calculator page is produced
A calculator begins with a defined user question, explicit inputs, a documented formula and a reproducible example. The result must identify its unit, rounding behavior and any assumption such as fill crop, orientation or bleed on every edge.
The underlying math is covered by automated tests before publication. Explanatory content is then checked against the tool so the worked example and the live result cannot quietly use different formulas.
How reference and guide pages are produced
A reference page starts from a physical standard or native format, then adds context unique to that format: typical uses, nearby-size comparisons, crop implications, bleed examples and practical pixel targets. Repeated navigation, calculator controls and table headings are site interface; the decision-making explanation must be specific to the page.
A guide answers a broader production question with a quick answer, decision table, worked numbers, ordered workflow, common mistakes, frequently asked questions and source links. Examples are selected to expose the tradeoff rather than produce a predetermined recommendation.
Sources, automation and review
Primary references are preferred for standards, unit definitions and software terminology. Calculations and standard page components may be generated programmatically for consistency, but automation is not treated as evidence and must not replace the page-specific explanation.
Material pages receive a visible review date. Source-dependent claims are rechecked when official documentation changes, while deterministic formulas are re-run through their tests after code changes.
Corrections
Reports should include the page, numerical inputs, unit, orientation, expected result and displayed result. A confirmed arithmetic defect is first captured as a failing test, then corrected in the shared function and every affected example.
Substantive corrections update the page review date. Minor spelling or layout changes do not pretend that the underlying guidance was newly reviewed.
Advertising and editorial independence
Advertising may support the site's operating cost, but advertisers do not choose calculator results, page topics or conclusions. Ads are not presented as print recommendations and are kept separate from interactive controls and editorial content.
The presence of an affiliate, advertising or analytics service must be disclosed in the relevant privacy or policy page before it is enabled. A useful answer remains available without requiring an ad click, account or image upload.
