WHY HASHES

A checksum identifies file contents, not just a filename.

Two files named final.pdf can contain different bytes. A SHA-256 checksum lets two people verify they are discussing the same exact file without putting the artwork into the manifest.

WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE

A matching checksum is not a print-quality approval.

Checksums detect byte-for-byte identity. They do not verify trim, color, bleed, fonts or provider requirements. Use the Preflight Engine for production checks.
