Reserve parent-sheet margins and gripper space, expand each piece for bleed, add gutters, compare rotation and estimate the cut grid. The result is a rectangular planning model, not a replacement for a RIP or bindery imposition system.

Useful geometry is not the same as a press-ready signature.

Reserve machine constraints first

A parent sheet may physically measure 450 × 640 mm while the press cannot image or grip every millimetre. Enter the real side, top and gripper reserves before calculating yield. Using full paper dimensions can create an impossible layout even when the arithmetic looks efficient.

Bleed changes the imposed footprint

A 90 × 50 mm trim with 3 mm bleed occupies 96 × 56 mm before the gutter is considered. The planner uses that expanded footprint so two neighboring pieces do not accidentally share trim space that the artwork needs for bleed.

Cut lines are a planning count

The displayed vertical and horizontal cut-line counts describe separators in a regular grid. Real guillotine sequences depend on stack handling, back-trim, registration, work-and-turn strategy and operator preference. Use the grid to discuss the job, then build the actual cutting program on the production equipment.
