Average use is an assumption
Stable daily consumption is a planning simplification. Seasonal demand, one large contract or material substitutions can make the average misleading, so update it when the workload changes.
Model how long current and confirmed incoming material can support average consumption, then compare that cover with supplier lead time plus your chosen safety window.
The tool uses average daily consumption and does not model supplier variability.

Safety days are added to supplier lead time before calculating the trigger quantity. They are a policy choice, not a prediction of supplier reliability.
Include confirmed incoming only when you are prepared to plan against it. A purchase request that has not been accepted by the supplier is not the same as material arriving on time.
